equal

we might say we live in a country that guarantees “equal protection under the law” but our history proves otherwise

it’s a losing battle that must be continuously fought uphill against the implacable ever present foes ignorance greed prejudice hate and the seed of them all fear

an impossible struggle that must be endured each generation by all who can’t not see

for the poor for the broken for the silent

basic healthcare not offered healthy food and safe water not available fairness and justice out of reach

the losing battle must be fought again and again

one person one family one situation at a time

to bring the truth a little bit closer to our noble wishes and the promise of our original goal

“equal protection under the law”
