back yard

Where ancient roots drink spring water Where cardinals beyew beyew beyew Where bleeding hearts open to the dampness Where breezes blow troubled daisies into silence Where soft grass begs to be lied on and laid in Where leaves become emeralds and facets hypnotize Where I am Where I am Where I am

A small part of this A communal carbon unit Another blade of grass A piece of a peace

where damsel flies flit on my eyelashes Land in my hair My unholy halo

Where ionized air rushes into my nostrils Lungs beg for release Holding my breath under a water so cool So clear So clean That I am for a moment baptized

Where all colors meet and flow through me.

A beetle lands on my toe Crawls up my leg Sleeps on my thigh And I sigh whispering into the green Thank you.
