Bitter Greens

by a cold fireplace

Slow strumming guitars Flex out familiar melodies And I sing along Letting it wash through me

Just let this music Wash you away

I am awe struck That I rise every day This broken heart still beats And its rhythm washes through me

Just let these heart beats Wash you away

Bitter greens and balsamic vinegar Fuel my quest, this dark night of my soul As I trudge through a  lonely wood I’ll let the night breezes wash through me

Just let this chill wind Wash through me And wash you away

I’m moving on and I breathe More freely with each parting step Memories melt like the ice from my Spilled drink that seeps into this worn tavern floor

Let this pain melt through me Just let it melt from me And wash your hurt away

Let these bitter greens Sad soft songs And drinks from long ago Wash you far, far away
