Persephone

Louisa says, “The stairs go up But they also Go down.”

So, like Persephone I descend into darkness And visit for a while.

It’s not so bad To holiday in Hell Taste the fire And sit Amongst the ashes

To feel fresh air After so much heat To taste the sunshine After so many nights

And recognize the Mother and know Her pain

Opening eyes See Light For the first time,

And engage in The lessons That make Life so good!

But, oh, that Pomegranate!
