that’s a poem I said
and the image
the movie
is still here
in my head
I was telling my wife
skin to skin
consciousness to consciousness
nestled together in bed
how glad I was that she decided
to marry me
how brave she was
loving me
but knowing the maelstrom
sensing the extreme distances
the depths of creative
and destructive powers
the strong forces
roiling in me
how brave she was
I said
to love me
and accept me
to marry me
knowing me
as I made my head
and arms and body
comfortable
next to her
and part of her
I said I’m so glad
you chose to marry me
it started then
the image for this poem
and the movie was there
for me to tell her
all the power of me
the raging sea
and howling winds
slamming into the land
and the land
like her
loving accepting absorbing
the storm
and making it whole
marrying the storm
that’s a poem
I said
. . .
not completely selfless
I guess
the land moves
and flows
rumbles growls
and bites
all that energy absorbed
and given back
makes for good sex
