by mistake

you understand
it’s all more by mistake
than by design
you stumble along
and learn by being wrong

what has already happened
it’s too late to fix
but not too late to forget
or remember
and do the bits you can
all over again

we all screw up
and forget or remember
and do the bits we can
all over again

please understand
it’s all more by mistake
than by design

the world and its humans

every being and thing

all make and suffer mistakes
rumble through their disasters
and keep on going
for however long as they can

and individually
if you last long enough

you come to understand
how it goes

eventually you learn
and get some of it right
eventually you know
what is important

eventually you see
what is right in front of you
and if you are blessed
you smile and reach out
and the love in you
is so bright
it glows

maybe you’re old and you’re weak
and maybe sick and suffering
but it doesn’t matter

if you loved and were loved
you’re thankful
and the love still fills you
and you’re so bright

you glow
